Community Options for Children and Families

I work with a Nonprofit Organization in Victoria, BC that provides support services to families who have a child or adult family member with a disability. That agency – Community Options – was formed in 1988 by a group of committed parents and professional people who wanted to ensure high quality respite care was available for children and adults with developmental disabilities who were living at home, and that parents and siblings could readily gain access to the information and resources they need.

Funding for the respite care they provide comes only from limited Provincial assistance, United Way funding, grants and individual donations. Family Support Services rely entirely on United Way, grants and donations.

If you are moved to give something, be generous. All donations will be deeply appreciated and ethically applied to filling the gaps in vital services to those who need them most. I have personally examined the financial records of Community Options and I recommend it without hesitation or reservation. Furthermore, its finances are routinely scrutinized by a wide variety of interested parties – both public and private.

As a registered Charity in Canada, Community Options can receive donations safely through the highly respected CanadaHelps website. If you are not familiar with CanadaHelps, or if you have questions about making online donations through them, go to http://www.canadahelps.org/Info/4/29/ss
